Fonzie's Motorcycle to be Auctioned Off

fonzies_motorcycleA 1949 Triumph Trophy TR5 would bring in a pretty penny on its own. But a 1943 Triumph Trophy TR5 that was ridden by The Fonz, the coolest person to ever grace a television set, well, that could bring in close to $100,000.

Arthur "The Fonz" Fonzarelli's Triumph will go up for auction on November 12 at Bonhams' Classic California Sale at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

The Triumph, which was ridden by Henry Winkler on "Happy Days," has some star power to drive up the price. But according to Clutch and Chrome, the motorcycle has seen better days. Fonzi's Triumph has some rust, a smashed speedometer, and it hasn't been run since the 1970s. Still, experts at Bonham are predicting that the motorcycle will sell for $60,000-$80,000.

"This is the coolest motorbike ever - you would be hard pushed to find a cooler one," said Nick Smith, an auctioneer with Bonhams. "It was a bike that got an awful lot of people into motorcycling, because Happy Days was on prime-time TV and it obviously made the character look cool. 'It would be quite something if you could say that you owned Fonzie's motorbike."
