Honda unveiled a new engine today which they claim will have the best fuel economy in the mid-range class. The new 700cc engine is a compact two cylinder engine that will be mounted on the Integra and two other Honda models.
Honda described the new engine in a press release:
"This new engine is a liquid-cooled, 700cc, 4-stroke, in-line, 2-cylinder engine that fits into the mid-class range (displacement between 500 and 750cc) popular in Europe. Fuel economy exceeds 27km/L (63.5 mpg) best in the mid-class range, and achieves an approximate 40% improvement over other sports models in its class."![]()
The new engine will be mounted on three Honda motorcycles. The Integra, two other models with the new 700cc motor will be displayed at the 2011 EICMA in Milan, Italy.
While developing the new engine, Honda set out to achieve three goals. They wanted the new engine to deliver plenty of torque, to have outstanding fuel economy, and to be compact enough to give Honda plenty of placement options.
Honda also unveiled a new 125cc engine. Honda's new 125cc engine will power the company's next generation of scooters.
