Most people believe, including myself, that riding a motorcycle is more environmentally friendly than driving a car. But is that true? Or is it just a myth? The Mythbusters will set out to answer that question next Wednesday.
The Mythbusters will bring in Kent Johnson, an assistant research engineer at the Center for Environmental Research and Technology at the Bourns College of Engineering to help them get an accurate answer. And since auto technology has rapidly changed over the last few decades, they'll be testing a motorcycle and a car from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.
"I was there to validate the conclusions made based on the measurements," Johnson said. "Basically, I showed that the process was scientifically sound."
Johnson was on set all three days as Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman drove the vehicles around Oakland. Johnson also spent a few extra days in the lab analyzing the results.
You can see a preview from the episode here. The car vs. motorcycle myth will be busted next Wednesday, the 28th, on the Discovery Channel.
So what do you think? Are motorcycles more eco-friendly?
