As technology continues to improve, motorcycles continue to get faster. New circuit records are set just about every year in the MotoGP, and the crashes keep getting bigger. With 1000cc motorcycles being introduced to the MotoGP in 2012, we could see some incredibly fast, and dangerous races.
But as engines have gotten bigger and bikes have gotten faster, motorcycle safety has improved as well. From course layouts, to better suits, to new helmets, MotoGP riders are relatively safe as the circle the track.
Motorsport is supposed to be dangerous," said Mark Neale, the filmmaker behind the new MotoGP documentary, Fastest. "But not too dangerous. You'd have to say that the improvement in safety over the last 30 years of racing has been absolutely fantastic."
