Sons of Anarchy started its fourth season on Tuesday, and they did it in front of a huge audience. Close to 5 million people tuned into FX for the Season 4 premier, which leaves executive producer, Kurt Sutter, with a promise to fill.
Sutter announced to his 50,000 followers a few days ago that if the season four premier of Sons of Anarchy had a 10% increase from the premier episode of season 3, he'd fly one of his Twitter followers out to Los Angeles to attend a viewing party at his house.
The Season 4 premier had 19% more viewers than the season 3 premier, and gained 17% in the coveted demographic of 18 to 49-year-olds.
"I want to thank Kurt Sutter and our amazing cast and crew for a job well done, along with our programming, marketing and publicity departments," said John Landgraf, President and General Manager, FX Networks. "Last night's ratings are indicative of the passion the audience has for this wonderful show. Kurt has crafted one of the most compelling series on television, with the raw, blow-your-hair-back energy of a wide open Harley and the subtle complexity of a great book."
Will Sutter keep his promise? Sons of Anarchy grew its audience by nearly 20% over the Summer. That seems like the perfect reason to have a party, and why not invite some loyal fans from the interwebs?
The season four premier was the most watched episode in Sons of Anarchy history. The previous record was set during the season two finale, which had 4.3 million people tune in to FX.
According to the cast, the amount of viewers for the season four premier were well deserved, since this is going to be the best season yet.
