The Hells Angels don't take too kindly to people who drag their name through the mud... or those who put it on T-shirts. The famous motorcycle club has just filed a lawsuit against Amazon.com and small Hollywood fashion house, Wildfox, who created T-Shirts saying "My Boyfriend's a Hells Angel."
"We bring these lawsuits from time to time not just to punish but to educate," said Hells Angels' attorney Fritz Clapp. "Somebody thought erroneously that Hells Angels is a generic term."
The T-shirts feature the Hells Angels name on the front and a pair of wings on the back. According to lawsuit, both sides are infringing on the Hells Angels trademarks.
The Hells Angels have filed numerous lawsuits in the past to protect their good name. The LA Times reports that the motorcycle gang has sued Disney, Marvel Comics, Saks 5th Avenue, and Zappos.
"Getting this stuff off the market is our highest priority," according to Clapp. "Hells Angels is a membership mark, and it denotes membership in the organization. Even the Hells Angels do not put it on T-shirts they sell to the public."
The Hells Angels have every right to protect their name, and judging by the success of their previous lawsuits, these shirts should be off virtual shelves in a matter of minutes.
