Real Life Transformer: UNO III Switches From Segway to Motorcycle Hot

UNO_IIIWant to bring your motorcycle indoors? On the sidewalk? Up to your apartment? The UNO III is a motorcycle that converts into a segway... or is it the other way around.

The UNO III, billed as the “World’s First Transforming Vehicle,” is small enough to fit into an elevator, but can transform into a motorcycle where it can hit speeds of up to 30mph.

So no, it’s not a speed demon. But the motorcycle industry has been focusing more and more on the daily commuter. The UNO III is an interesting option for people looking to get to and from work. It is an electric vehicle that gets 30-35 miles on a charge, which makes it practical. And the thing transforms, which makes it cool.

The UNO III is for a niche market that I’m not a part of, but it’s still a pretty interesting concept.

“The Uno is the world’s first real transformer,” said BPG. “This revolutionary vehicle is similar to a unicycle at low speeds but transforms into a full motorcycle for higher speeds. The transitioning design allows the Uno to be nimble for mixed-use travel and compact for storage and parking while delivering all the benefits of a conventional motorcycle.”

Check out this video from BPG.

You can reserve an UNO III for a refundable $250. The UNO III will be available at the beginning of 2012 for $5000-$7000.

Why, what is the use of this product? Buy either a motorcycle or a Segway, or even a garage to put the bike in. I can't see the sense in this machine.
