The ice cream man’s traded in his music box jingle for the sound of growling pipes. Real-estate developer John Gibson was running to a Tony Robbins motivational tape in the 1990s when an entrepreneurial vision appeared to him: Use a motorcycle to sell ice cream.
The idea took over a decade to perfect, but Gibson now sells franchising rights to the frozen-treats-vendors on wheels, “Cool Cycles”. Included in the $45K lump sum start-up fee is the motorcycle (a Honda Shadow 750 or a Harley Sportster 883), freezer, and an old-timey soda fountain hat and jacket. Interested buyers can get all the details on their candy-colored website, www.coolcyclesicecream.com.
The two-man team running the show is passionate about their work; CEO Joel Semanko proffers that ice cream should be one of the four main food groups.
Watch out, food pyramid. These dudes like to shake things up.
