Sure, toys can be delivered extremely fast with a reindeer powered sled, but what's the fun in that? (I'm sure it would be a lot of fun.) Santa needs to get his motorcycle fix too, so every year before he takes off for his round the world voyage, he hops on his hog with a bunch of other Santa buddies to deliver toys.
Santa toy runs are organized by motorcycle clubs all across the country. Yesterday, bikers from ABATE in Ontario, California, had their Toy Run to Benefit Santa Claus. This morning, the Reading Christian Bikers gathered nearly 1000 Santas to deliver toys in the UK. There have also been motorcycle toy runs in Billings, Grand Junction, Florida, Sherman, Texas, Jackson, Mississippi, and I'm sure many other cities across the globe.
"I love to ride and I love to support whatever efforts to help others," added Clyde Reves a retired military veteran who participated in the toy run in Mississippi.
"It's all about the kids and if we can pass it onto them and down the road they say you know I remember when I was a kid, I'm going to keep doing it," said Roaddogs President Mark Curlyclause Helmbrecht, who helped organize the toy run in Billings, Montana."It may be a $5 toy, but it's a toy some kid may never ever get. So our goal is to make sure there's something under every kid's Christmas tree."
The Santa Claus toy runs have been helping needy children, as well as bikers who need an excuse to ride in the snow, have happy Christmases for decades. Santa might get the majority of the credit for his work on Christmas Eve, but Christmas wouldn't be the same without the hardy and generous bikers who lend a hand during the Holiday season.
