ATK Goes Green Hot

ATKLogo

ATK is best known for its off road racing legacy. ATK is the second oldest continuously running US motorcycle manufacturer and currently is the only US based off-road motorcycle manufacturer. With this background the next logical step for the company was to move into electric motorcycles.

ATK has chosen to release two electric models available to the law enforcement community. The Stealth Metro is intended to be the "around town model" and the Stealth Dual sport for use off-rod and on-road. Both models feature ultra-quite electric motors rated at 9kw putting out 36 foot pounds of torque.

These bikes have a top speed of 75 mph and a range of 100 miles. The estimated run time of three hours of continuous use make these electric cycles ready for everyday use. Some police departments currently use electric vehicles that do not have this range and top speed. These models would make the perfect replacement or complement to these existing electric vehicles.

Looking at the specifications of these electric motorcycles I can only wonder when they will be made available to the public. An actual electric motorcycle that has practical everyday use, price points should be good as ATK has an extensive background in manufacturing and an established distribution network.
