The Saddle Tramps Motorcycle Club was celebrating their tenth anniversary with a group ride consisting of about a dozen members. The group was riding down State Route 98 near Ocotillo, when a Gold Honda Accord got frustrated driving behind the group, and decided to make a pass. The Honda, on a small two lane highway, started to pass the group, and narrowly missed getting hit by a another car coming in the other direction.
One car swerved onto the shoulder, the other swerved and hit the Saddle Tramps Motorcycle Club.
"The vehicle that was passing the motorcyclists was just looking directly in front of his hood," said CHP Officer Wes Boerner. "If he'd been looking down the road a piece, he would of realized there was oncoming vehicle. The visual distance out here is about half a mile so there is really no reason for him not to see the car coming."
