"It seemed like a good idea at the time" Hot

We’ve all seen them.  You know, those 100+ mile-an-hour police chases involving motorcycles.  They usually end badly.  Recently though, we got a glimpse into the mind of one of those fleeing demons.  Robert Gerardi of Phoenix was heading home from his friend’s house at about 3a.m. when the 18 year-old was clocked at over 100 mph on his Suzuki GSXR 750 by the police.

The cops caught up to Gerardi when he was stopped at a red light.  The police said that they saw the rider look back at them; however, Gerardi sped away when the light turned green.  Several miles into the high speed chase, the biker slowed to 20 mph and then stopped because he said being chased was "the scariest thing."  The police then bumped his GSXR over the curb to prevent him from fleeing again.

Gerardi, who is a freshman at a local college and works a sales associate at a motorcycle shop, later explained what he was thinking.  "I thought about it for a second and thought, 'I'm probably going to be arrested anyway,' " Gerardi said.  "It seemed like a good idea at the time . . . I thought I could get away."  About the police ramming his motorcycle, Gerardi continued, "I don't think there was anything improper about what (the officer) did…I was relieved that I didn't have to run anymore."

Gerardi, who was charged with a Class 6 felony, concluded that, "dumb decisions aren't always made by dumb people."

By the way, there is a slightly scratched GSXR 750 for sale in Phoenix for $2300.

Did it once and it does scare the crap out of you I have to be honest. I also got caught, 8 cars and a road block. It's not the most sensible decision to run I have to admit. What was the fine any idea?
