NRHS V-Twin Performance has once again won the “Fastest American V-Twin” award. Using their 1650cc sportster-based motorcycle the team reached a speed of more than 194 mph and posted a new land speed record of 115.8 mph with their 500cc Buell Blast at the BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials.
Team riders Aaron Wilson and Lucille Dunn summed up their record-setting rides with a mixture of satisfaction and relief.
Lucille Dunn recalls her run saying, "Last year, I was a rookie so I didn't know what to expect. I was nervous and I was still learning the ropes. But in the end, I got a record to take home and then I said to myself, ‘this is not bad, this is actually a lot of fun.’ So I went back to the Bonneville this year.”
"I was limited by the lack of traction due to Sunday night's rain. I hit a wall of air at 194mph, more throttle only resulted in more wheel spin, not more speed. The NRHS bike has 200mph in it if we get some good course conditions, Wilson said.
“Still, I'm pleased we again bagged the award for fastest U.S. V-Twin of the meet, the 4th time we've done so in the 7 years of the International Speed Trials by Bub. I am planning on going back in October for the World finals so I can break that elusive 200 mph mark!” Wilson continued.
“This year I can truly say it is the first time I enjoyed the event. No more rookie jitters to contend with. Then I had another record to take home,” Dunn said. “Two records in two years, I am extremely happy with that. Next year well, I want to go faster of course!"
