On 6 January 2011 at the Las Vegas Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino, famous and well-known auction house Bonhams & Butterfields will host “The Las Vegas Motorcycle Sale.” This event came about due to the incredible success Bonhams has had selling motorcycles – record-breaking prices at multiple auctions. The experience gained in those sales has led Nick Smith, chief of the Bonhams Motorcycle Department, to create this new exciting affair. Just have a look at what will be on offer:
- An exceptionally original “barn find” 1952 Vincent Rapide in Chinese Red
- A 1905 Indian Camelback
- A 1913 Flying Merkel Twin – in original condition
- A 1923 Harley-Davidson JD Racer with sidecar
- A 1929 Excelsior Super X with sidecar – in original condition
- A 1929 Henderson KJ Four
Much of that list comes from a private collection out of Long Island, New York, which was only added to the auction this past week. Check out that Flying Merkel in original condition; that’s one of the most collectible machines ever produced and finding one in such condition is all but impossible. This is a chance to either add a part of history to your own collection, or just have a great time witnessing some of motorcycling’s greatest bikes change hands.
