Harley-Davidson Sidecars: A Thing Of The Past Hot

side_carWith the new plans to increase sales, Harley-Davidson will eliminate the production and sales of sidecars. I know you’re all very disappointed since sidecars are such a hot addition to your motorcycle, but there just isn’t a demand in the market for them anymore.

Harley first released the sidecar to customers back in 1914 as a solution to transporting belongings without having to sacrifice riding your motorcycle. It’s also a spot for another passenger to ride in or even a dog if you really need to. But I’m sure everyone would agree that sidecars aren’t that great of an addition to a Harley, which is probably why you rarely see em attached to many bikes. Financially, this is a great move on the manufacturer’s part to cut costs where money isn’t generating.

It seems as though Harley really is taking their new marketing plan seriously, and hoping to bring a new wave of motorcycle buyers.

I guess I will need to sell my Hog stock now. The Harley executives are definitely taking a wrong turn here. Instead of doing away with sidecars, they should be actually packaging them with their Sportsters. To increase sales Harley needs to focus on the riders that do not have the balance of some of their rough and tough riders. Just take a look at the direction motorcycles are going Trikes are a hit, why because they have three wheels, more stability. Hey what about Putin on the trike. Did you know that Ural has been around for a while producing motorcycles with sidecars. Then there is the Royal Enfield with the Cozy sidecars. A lot of people including myself would love to have a sidecar on a motorcycle, but I don't want to buy a motorcycle an then try to have one put on. I asked about getting a sidecar for a sportster and the Harley sales rep. to me they only install them on the 1200cc models. Too expensive for me and a lot of other people. I would prefer to purchase one already installed from a company whose quality I trust, like Harley Davison. Just look at the quality of their sidecars.

Sorry Harley, you should be adding more sidecars not less, but I would like to know when your sidecars go on sale, because I want one.

I have been riding with a Harley sidecar over 25 years and do so because that way my wife can ride due to a medical problem. This will take us off the road. We are retired and depend on this for keeping in the wind. My old outfit is worn out and went to get a new one ordered and the dealer said sorry. Hopefully Harley will be sorry with the closing of the sidecar production. I realize there is limited interest in them, but I thought Harley was for the people. I guess that is only true if you constantly pump money into their coffers. Add sidecars to more bikes and the sales would increase. I guess I will look for a used setup. Harley, you suck for all my years of dedication to you.
