Riding on a motorcycle that looks like a Flintstone mobile doesn’t peek my interest, but hey I’m all about the green phase. One man took his green mission to new heights with his project the Aerocycle. Three years and about $5,000 later, Dutch designer Allert Jacobs built his own aerodynamic motorcycle.
Jacobs took his Honda Innova and redesigned it into the Aerocycle. The four stroke 125cc engine won’t leave you screeching down the highway, but you’ll get great gas mileage. To increase fuel efficiency he lowered the riding position, reduced wind exposure, and then optimized the gear ratio.
The hypnotic fiberglass shell runs like a regular bike getting 214 miles to the gallon. Only one issue that still needs some improvement would be that you have to steady the bike with your feet when it’s at a light…which in my opinion is kinda ghetto. So if you’re looking for power this isn’t the bike for you. Who knows….we all might be riding one in a few years.
