Around the Globe in the Zerotracer Hot

z_tracerThe Zero Race around the globe in 80 days challenge offers a unique way for riders to test their electric powered vehicles’ ability. The race begins in Geneva, Switzerland taking riders through 20 countries with a total distance of 18,641 miles. The Zero Race will help bring awareness about transportation issues and innovative ways to use renewable energy sources.

As the bike to watch, the Zerotracer is a two person, battery powered 4-cylinder in-line BMW K-engine. The bike reaches a top speed of 155 mph, and its 400V battery pack allows you to recharge in two hours. The body of the bike is made up of a Kevlar composite outer shell with two retractable wheels for stationary support. The inside of the shell is just as cool as the outside with a stereo system, bucket seats, heating system, and a 250-degree view through the plexiglass windshield.

The race begins on August 15, 2010 so be sure to check back for more details on the competition.

155 out of electric this could become something. The distance is a real test for these machines.
