Sick of Sitting in Traffic? Try a Street Legal Flying Motorcycle Hot

june_flyingBack in 2007, one man decided to leave his job as an aerospace engineer in hopes of fulfilling a dream to build a flying motorcycle. Flash forward a few years; Joe Caravella is close to unveiling his second version of the CaraVellair.

So what exactly is Caravella’s vision for this flying machine? He plans to design a three-wheel bike with deployable wings, but is also capable to be driven on the streets. The plan is that it can take-off just like an airplane with a pusher-style propeller drive. As of right now, the CaraVellair is powered by a 1,000cc motorcycle engine, and has wheels that were taken from a Smart car.

Caravella will showcase this new model this summer at the big-fly-in aviation show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Even though the bike doesn’t fly yet, he plans on racing it on the streets to stir some interest.
