Well things just a little tougher for motorcyclists in Canada. It was just announced that the police would now be monitoring noise levels for motorcycles with their nifty sound level meter. Any bike registering over 92 decibels while idling will receive a 250.00 ticket. Bikes registered with over 96 decibels while riding over 2,000 rpms or 100 decibels at over 5,000 rpms will also be cited.
My biggest question would be, how in the heck would the cops know where your rpms are at? And do they carry around the noise reader around like a radar gun, or is it like an organized sting? However they try to enforce the law, I think it’s a little goofy…I mean, bikes are supposed to be loud and kind of obnoxious. Do you think that it’s fair to try and limit how noisy a bike can be? I vote no!
