On Tuesday, U.S. Ambassador Michele J. Sison presented "state of the art" Harley-Davidson police motorcycles to the commanding general of the Lebanese National Police, who will use the bikes in their Internal Security Forces (ISF). The donation was part of a program created by the State Department's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
At the ceremony where the motorcycles were handed over, Sison said that the donation would fill a specific need for the ISF. "The capability that these Harley Davidson motorcycles will provide the ISF is something that the ISF officers who enforce the law in Lebanon have been asking for," she said. "These impressive and easily recognizable motorcycles will certainly assist the ISF in projecting its presence in the eyes of the Lebanese citizens, and if I might add – doing so with great style."
We can't help but wonder if maybe the bikes would have been better served in Texas, but maybe the INL didn't get that memo.
