62-year-old Philip Aguilar, the leader of the Set Free Soldiers (an Anaheim-based Christian motorcycle club), was sentenced to probation last week following a 2008 bar brawl with some Hell's Angels in Newport Beach. Two men were stabbed in the fight, and officials later found guns and ammunition at homes owned by members of the Set Free Soldiers.
All things considered, it's a pretty sweet deal for Aguilar, who was facing three felony charges as a result of the altercation. Prosecutors dropped the felony charges, including street terrorism, after Aguilar pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of being a prohibited person owning ammunition. This isn't Aguilar's first time at the felony rodeo, though. While serving time in prison for a previous felony conviction, he turned to Christianity and founded the Set Free Soldiers. Oh, the irony!
