The Advanced Carbon Composites website warns buyers not to trust helmets made in countries like India or China, suggesting that people should instead buy their American-made helmets. Sounds like it makes sense, right?
What the website doesn't tell you is that the company's helmets have been recalled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) so many times, the agency has demanded that Advanced Carbon Composites stop making helmets all together. According the the NHTSA, the company failed to properly carry out at least three safety recalls in the last five years.
About 17,000 of the helmets Advanced Carbon Composites sold failed to meet safety standards, including puncture resistance. On top of that, the company violated "various provisions" of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. As a result, the NHTSA demanded that Advanced Carbon Composites stop selling, designing or manufacturing all motorcycle helmets.
Interestingly, the NHTSA didn't stop there. Instead, they also went after the company's president, Kim L. Davis, directly. Now, no motorcycle helmets can be sold, designed or manufactured by any company that Davis owns more than 3 percent of. This means that even if Davis was able to buy a 3 percent stake of a company with a solid name in safety, like Harley-Davidson, the company wouldn't be able to continue selling helmets.
Current owners of helmets made by Advanced Carbon Composites are entitled to refunds, and are instructed not to have the helmets repaired.

I am sorry to hear that they don't make helmets anymore for bikes, I was thinking about one of their DOT helmets but no longer.
