Billetproof Customs bought this 1977 Kawsaki KZ400 for $300 and transformed it into a kick-ass café racer. For 300 bucks, it was pile, but the engine still ran, so they took the next step and stripped it down. The 2-wheeled wizards started modifying the frame and then custom built the wheels, and lowered the front and rear shocks. The vintage Kawi dropped 2 inches and transformed into a much more aggressive bike.
The body of the KZ was a hot mess, so Billetproof scoured and found a refurbed ‘79 Suzuki GT 500 fuel tank to get on the road to racer redemption. They also fed the engine through a single carb instead of the original dual ones. Billetproof’s custom forged and wrapped exhaust pipes gave the KZ a very cool throwback retro look.
Billetproof departed from the old-school drum brakes, and added a disc to the front and a custom drilled drum in the back. They also tucked the battery under the tail section. Other notable improvements are the speedometer, headlight, mirrors, taillight, and custom stitched seat.
