Ladies, start your engines. This Friday, May 6th, is international female ride day. Women around the world will be hopping on their bikes to participate in the event that encourages women to “just ride.”
International Female Ride Day has been around since 2007, and is the only event of its kind with a global reach.
“International female Ride Day is a unique event in the world. No other event is or has ever reached out to women from all parts of the world on just one global, synchronized day- this is the real deal,” said Vicki Gray, founder of International Female Ride Day. “It’s success is equally attributed to women riders of all ages, styles of riding and motorcycle brands who took this idea I presented to them five years ago and made it what it is- phenomenal.
“For the 5th year we’re so excited to include women rider groups in Russia, Germany and India to the action. Since the beginning, IFRD has attracted more and more women. It is incredible to see its growth. Women know that they are participating in a unique event that has no relation whatsoever to the type of bike they are riding.”
Since 2007, the number of women participating in the event has grown immensely. IFRD has even started to attract support from motorcycle organizations like the FIM and companies like BMW, Harley, and Honda.
This year, women from Canada, the United States, Australia, England, The Netherlands, Greece, Italy, Poland, Israel, Hungary, Slovakia, India, Russia, and Germany are expected to get out and ride for International Female Ride Day.
