Ladies of Lorain County, Ohio can hop on their bikes for the Girls-only Motorcycle Mixer, sponsored by the Lorain County Safe Community Coalition and Kennedy’s Sports Cycles, 1019 Lowell St., Elyria, on July 24 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Women can learn to change oil and maintain tire pressure, find the right helmet, boots and goggles, chat with motorcycle safety experts and participate in giveaways.
In a 2008 survey of U.S. riders, the Motorcycle Industry Council found that the largest growing of numbers of riders are women.
“Because the number of female riders is increasing, our industry has to inform and provide for them accordingly. That’s what this event is about — empowering female riders to ride smart,” said Linda Varady, of Kennedy’s Sports Cycles.
