Harley-Davidson put on its 2nd annual Celebrate Women Riders event yesterday, and it was a huge success all around the country (and even outside of the good ol' U.S. of A.). This isn't surprising, considering that women are the fastest-growing demographic in the motorcycle industry. Approximately 23 percent of all motorcycle riders are women, and that number is only increasing.
There was a huge exhibit at the Harley-Davidson museum to commemorate the event, which included hands-on lessons on how to pick up a 550-pound Harley if it falls over.
"It was an interesting experience," said Sue Andrews, who until yesterday had only ridden on the back of a Harley before. "It surprised me that there are so many things that have to be coordinated."
"Even if you've never ridden a motorcycle before, you get that feeling of starting it, putting it in gear, releasing the clutch and rolling on that throttle - the feel and the sound - without going anywhere," said Paul James, Harley's director of product communication. So, did any of you ladies participate in this event over the weekend? If so, tell us about it in the comments section!
