Top 8 Events for Charity in May

During the month of May you can take advantage of several events that will aim to benefit local charities, organizations and other charitable causes. There is nothing more rewarding than doing something for other people. Small donation and registration fees add up to big bucks that help many of these organizations make dramatic differences in those around them. We are only weeks away, so come on and lets ride!

1. Richard Crittenden Memorial Run – Chisago City, Minnesota

As the cost of college tuition rises, many students are counting on scholarships from local funds. The Richard Crittenden Memorial Run on May 8^th will help raise money to award a single scholarship to a senior from North St. Paul High School. The run will kick off at Neumanns Bar at 10am and end at Chisago Roadhouse.

2. Bikers Against Breast Cancer Ride – Orange, New Jersey

Founded in 2006, Bikers Against Breast Cancer Inc has been dedicated to raising money for cancer research as well as helping families dealing with and recovering from breast cancer with necessary expenses. The May 8^th event will start at the Eagle Rock Bowling Alley and end at the Spruce Run Recreation Area. Registration is $11.

3. Armed Forces Day Veterans Benefit – Cortez, Colorado

On May 15^th you can join the celebration in honor of the brave men and women that have fought for our country over the years. The event will have live entertainment, vendors and a poker run as well as biker games and a bikini bike wash. Festivities will be held at the City Park.

4. Juvenile Diabetes Poker Run and Hog Roast – Branchville, Indianna

For the second year, the Juvenile Diabetes Poker Run and Hog Roast will take place to help raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The group funds research in hopes of finding a cure for this condition. Riders will head out at 11am on May 15^th and make several stops before returnint at 4.30pm. There will be ½ pot drawings, door prizes, great food and live entertainment by Handz of Timme. The cost of the event is $15 per person or $25 per couple.

5. Spring Ride South – Ottawa Illinois

From May 13^th to 19^th you can join in the Spring Ride South to help raise money to benefit Easter Seals. Easter Seals focuses on helping those with autism and other disabilities learn to cope and live in the most normal and independent way possible. The event is in its third year and will be heading to Tennessee. Hotel and registration information is available on the event website. A hog roast, 50/50 drawings, raffles and silent auction will be held on Thursday before riders depart.

6. Cruisin’ for a Cure Motorcycle Run – Shallotte, North Carolina

With so many people in this world being touched by cancer, it is hard not to want to do something to support efforts in finding a cure. Cruisin’ for a Cure Motorcycle Run will be held on May 15^th to help raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Registration is $25.

7. MDA Ride for a Cure – Meridian, Idaho

High Desert Harley Davidson will be the kick off point for the 7^th annual MDA Ride for a Cure. Proceeds will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association research efforts. A 2009 Buell Blast will be raffled off at the event. There will also be a parade, poker run, scenic ride and plenty of food, vendors and other fun. This will take place on May 16^th and the entry fee is $20 per person.

8. Cruisin Fur Critters Poker Run – Apple Valley, California

How exciting is it to benefit mans best friends? Help support those furry friends who haven’t found a human to love at the Cruisin Fur Critters Poker run on May 22^nd. Registration will be $25 (advanced) and include lunch, ride pin and the first 100 registered riders will receive a free t-shirt. There will also be raffles and live entertainment.
