The Kansas Motorcycle Museum is a must stop if you are ever in the Marquette, Kansas area. It currently has over one hundred models of classic bikes as well as plenty of memorabilia. In a down economy they are doing their best to raise money and awareness to keep the museum running and in good standing. This year they will be hosting another motorcycle rally – Thunder On The Smokey. The events sixth year will kick off with a Biker breakfast on May 15th.
The single day event will have live music from Nostalgia – a classic rock and roll band throughout the day. M&M Choppers will be hosting the Dyno Shoot Out Contest which will offer prizes in three categories. There will be biker games and a bike show with trophies for first and second place. Finally, spectators will be able to enjoy the stunt show, many vendors and of course great food.
If you would like to stay in the area to take advantage of the scenic terrain there is available lodging at Kanopolis State Park.
