Women’s Motorcycle Festival in Canada Hot

Dan Evon
Staff Writer

Last August, the American Motorcyclist Association hosted the fifth International Women and Motorcycling conference in Keystone, Colorado. This event attracted visitors from all over the world, including a large number of Canadians.

In August, 2010, the Motorcyclists Confederation of Canada will take on the hosting duties, and bring the International Women Riders Congress and Festival (IWFC) to the Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville, Ontario. The event will be held on August 11 to August 15.

"With a theme of One World, One Ride, we're thrilled to celebrate the achievements of women riders from across Canada and around the world," says Myra Abstreiter, Chair of the Women Riders Council. "The IWCF will focus on common ground, creating synergy and reinforcing women riders as leaders and role models.”

The IWFC has garnered major support from some of the biggest names in motorcycles. The event will be sponsored by Honda Canada, BMW Motorrad, BRP, Harley-Davidson,  Motorcycle Mojo, and Inside Motorcycles Magazine.

Women make up 13% of all motorcycle purchases and are the fastest growing demographic of motorcycle riders. The Federation of European Motorcyclists Association, and the Motorcycle Riders Foundation have both endorsed the event.
