Suzuki GSX-R 1000| GSX-R 1000 | | The new GSX-R 1000 features a redesigned engine with improved efficiency and power output. A reshaped combustion chamber and a more aggressive cam profile increase power in the low to mid rpm range. The stroke has been shortened and the bore has been increased in order to maximize power in the upper rpm range while retaining the 999cc engine displacement. On the 2009 model, Suzuki switched from a hydraulic clutch to a cable clutch, giving the rider more control of clutch engagement and greater feel. The 2009 GSX-R 1000 also includes a redesigned, lighter chassis with improvements including a longer swing arm, more rigid brake calipers, newly designed cast aluminum wheels and more efficient cooling system. |
