MV Agusta: new models after 10 yearsTyler Hopper AllAboutBikes.com Staff Writer
MV Agusta has released its newest models in 10 years, a move that arrives just one year after being acquired by Harley-Davidson. Harley bought the company for $109 million in July 2008 in an attempt to step into a different market segment.
The new models, the Brutale 990R and the Brutale 1090RR, have received new chassis, engines and bodywork. Both bikes actually produce less peak horsepower than their predecessors, but the reduced power output is due to an increase in low-end torque for improved acceleration and control. Both engines have been modified to receive smaller pistons and a larger stroke in order to make power delivery smoother, with more progressive response. Lighter engine cases and a new counter-rotating balancer shaft are also incorporated into the engine designs. |
