The AMA has done a nice job in preserving and presenting the full array of motorcycling history. Upon entering the museum, the first thing that catches the eye is a faithful reproduction of one of the first motorcycles ever produced, the German Reitwagen. It is a striking wooden and metal work of motorized art.
The rest of the museum is broken into thematic displays of various aspects and periods in motorcycling history.
The Harley Cafe is a place any motorcycle enthusiast will find interesting. It's loaded with American motorcycling history and over-the-top Vegas glitz. I've never been big fan of "theme" restaurants… or "theme" anything for that matter.
So as I walked into the Harley-Davidson Cafe under the huge Heritage Softail bursting from its exterior, I wasn't expecting much. As a nice surprise, the Las Vegas Strip restaurant is packed with enough interesting stuff to make it well worth a visit.
Scooter culture has always had a distinctly European flavor, but the scooter lifestyle has developed a huge following in the USA. Interestingly, the scooter subculture in America displays almost as much diversity as its motorcycling counterpart. The modern scooter movement is borne as much of nostalgia as it is of independence.
