Top 10 Attractions to Visit while Riding in Wyoming Hot

Whether you are traveling around the state or simply looking for a place to take a ride, Wyoming offers a multitude of attractions to tickle your fancy. Travel to any of these for something that is sure to please.
Old Faithful
1.  Old Faithful – Yellowstone National Park
The breathtaking geysers that are on display at Old Faithful will give you something to write home about. While Yellowstone National Park itself offers more attractions than one could possibly see in a day, the geysers are one of its best. Eruptions occur sporadically every half hour to two hours and shoot water columns up to 165 feet in the air. Old Faithful is one of the many natural occurring wonders that exist in our great country.

2. Cheyenne
Named after the Cheyenne Indians, the capital of Wyoming is known for its historical richness. Catch a glimpse into the pioneering past as you drive through this town which was founded in 1867 as a stop along the Union Pacific Railroad. Cheyenne features a multitude of biking terrain that takes you through the historic area.

If you are searching for something that is truly remarkable then make sure to travel through Bighorn Mountains. These mountains are known to be some of the most majestic in the world. Named for the Bighorn sheep that you can see grazing along the rocky slopes, the mountain offers plenty of hiking and picnicking as well as breathtaking views of Wyoming.

4. Medicine Bow Mountains – West of Laramie
The perfect place to stretch your legs is Medicine Bow Mountains. With miles of rugged hiking terrain and riding trails as well as a vast array of wildlife and mountain views make this a must-stop place while riding in Wyoming.

5. Grand Teton National Park – Moose, WY
Grand Teton Nation Park is known for its beauty across America. The eight peaks of the mountain reach elevations of over 12,000 feet while offering insight to a multitude of scenic vistas. While in this region you are sure to see some elk, bison and moose which all make the area their home.

6. Independence Rock State Historic Site
Along the wide open spaces of the Oregon Trail is Independence Rock State Historic Site. This massive granite stone was popular for settlers to carve their name on once arriving in the area during the westward pioneer movement. 7. Devils Tower National Monument
Declared the first national monument in 1906 by Theodore Roosevelt, Devils Tower National Monument is another must-see while riding through Wyoming. Erosion over time has revealed this wonder in the midst of a 1,347 acre park. The area is filled with prairie dogs, deer and other wildlife in the midst of its grasslands, woodlands and pine forests. While resting just 1,267 feet above the Belle Fourche River, the roads to this stop will give you changing elevations and rugged terrain.

8. The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone
The Yellowstone River carves a definitive path through its surrounding mountains while creating The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. This breathtaking beauty is a definite site to see. The deepest part of the river is at Artist Point, which creates more natural wonders to enjoy, at 1,540 feet.

While traveling west along I-80, be sure to look up at the monument of one of our nations great presidents. The bronze head weighs over two tons and was constructed in honor of Lincolns 150th birthday. In 1969 it was moved to its current location along the completion of the highway which runs coast to coast.

10. The Ames Pyramid - Buford
The Ames Pyramid may only be accessible by a dirt track, but it is incredible as it stands on a treeless plateau in Wyoming. Originally it was built to be accessible by railways but today it is a modern day Egyptian style attraction. It was built in honor of the president of the Union Pacific Railroad – Oliver Ames from pink granite in an effort to un-tarnish the reputations of past officials.
