A History of the Pagan's Motorcycle Club Hot

A member of The Pagans MC at the Thunder In The Valley motorcycle rally.

Features Info

In the folklore of outlaw motorcycle clubs, the Pagans stand side-by-side with the notorious Hells Angels. The 1%er MC has a widespread presence in the Eastern United States and is the most fierce rival of “81.” They are known as a “One Percenter” motorcycle club and are classified as an “Outlaw Motorcycle Gang” by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

History of The Pagan's MC

The Pagans were founded in Prince George’s County, Maryland in 1959 by Lou Dobkin, who became the first President of the Pagan's MC. Originally, the group consisted of 13 members who wore denim jackets and rode Triumph motorcycles.

The official insignia of the Pagan's MC features the Norse fire-giant “Surtr” sitting on the sun and wielding a sword. Above Surtr is the word “Pagan’s” and below it is “MC”, both of which are written in red, white and blue.

Unlike other One Percenter motorcycle clubs, members of the Pagans do not include their chapter on their insignia. It is believed that they intentionally omit this information in order to prevent law enforcement officers from knowing which chapter they belong to.

Expansion of The Pagans

From their original group of 13 members, the Pagans expanded rapidly in the 1960s. During this period, they created a formal constitution and formed a governing structure with a national president.

Today, there are 350 to 400 members in 13 states. They are active in Delaware, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

The Pagan's MC and Crime

The Pagans have a long history of criminal activities.

In 1994, the Pagans showed up at a charity that was held by the Tri-County MC in Hackettstown, New Jersey. They were there to intimidate local motorcycle clubs into aligning with them in order to keep the Hells Angels out. A fight broke out and ended with the death of 2 Pagans and numerous injuries.

In 2002, 73 Pagans confronted members of the Hells Angels at the Hellraiser Ball in Long Island, New York. A fight ensued and resulted in the death of a Pagan along with 10 injuries. Two weeks later, a Pagan's-owned tattoo parlor in Philadelphia was firebombed, perhaps as retaliation for the incident in Long Island.

Continuing their battle with the Hells Angels, the Pagan's allegedly killed the VP of the Hells Angels Philadelphia chapter in 2005. The Hells Angels closed the said chapter later that year, indicating that they may have been driven out of the stronghold of the Pagans.

Nineteen members of the Pagans were arrested in Rocky Point, New York in 2010 on allegations that they conspired to murder members of the Hells Angels. Charges included assault, distribution of illegal drugs, conspiracy to commit extortion and weapons charges.

These and numerous other crimes involving illegal drugs, weapons, violence, organized crime and more have made the Pagans perhaps the most fierce 1%er motorcycle club on the planet in a pound-for-pound sense. The group continues it’s virtually regular run-ins with the Hells Angels and law enforcement officers to this day.

Unlike most other outlaw motorcycle clubs the Pagans explicitly incorporate violence into their culture. The group’s national sergeant-at-arms is responsible for choosing 13 members to serve as “Enforcers” or “Regulators.” These members use intimidation and violence to deter all opposition to the Mother Club.

Overall, the group is known to have an unpleasant culture. Many members are known to have fascist or racist views and some wear patches that reflect such beliefs. Also, disputes are often resolved through violence, which lends to the group’s overall bad-boy image.

Members of the Pagans must be at least 21 years of age. They must also own a Harley-Davidson motorcycle with a 900 cc engine or larger.

The Pagans operate a rigid, hierarchical group. The Pagans are currently headquartered in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

I am confused here? When you say the Pagans MC stand side by side with the Hells Angels? not trying to stir up the pot but how are the Pagans MC standing side by side with the Hells Angels MC? that is like saying the Mongols MC are dating the HA's members sisters with there blessings LOL, anyone who is anyone or who has been with any chapter/gang will know that the Pagans MC stand on the opposite side of the equation from the Hells Angels MC, many of the Pagans MC formed the body of one perecenters that use the named one word which has been synonymous in opposing rule since the sixties, so I have one question? when you say the Pagans MC stand side by side with the Hells Angels in what sense how? the boarders have been clearly cut in England since the 80s and cut clearly since the sixties in the United Sates so like is this a literacy punctuation by meaning of notoriety in history because whomever wrote this article needs to address the way it is set out

Jeff, I agree with you on most of your statement, being that people need to just mind their own damn business. The culture of the clubs and especially that of one percenter clubs is one that rocks most peoples sweet little white picket fence lives. It is something that shakes them to the core and disturbs their image of the American Ideal. That is why people take videos of bikers and comment on forums about bikers, for the simple fact that they want other people to think that their lives aren't completely shallow and boring. Many people wish that they could lead the life but have never had the gonads to step up and actually do it. And that is absolutely fine with me. The less people we have running around thinking that they can throw on whatever they want and pretend to have stepped out of the Sons of Anarchy tv series the better. Now comes the part where I have to disagree with the other part of your statement. Only full patchholders of a club have any right to be involved in business. Not even probates are allowed to know what is going on until they patch. Everyone else, if you are involved in the life and hang around these kind of clubs just enjoy the ride. Try not to be something you aren't and just have a good time. Don't be one of the Sons of Anarchy cats and be all bark. If you do, you can guarantee that at some point an actual patchholder will take offense and you will learn the hard way what it takes to run in these circles. No offense meant to you Jeff, just wanting to spread the gospel as it were.

to all if you have respect for everyone you will be fine that's the key word respect, if that's what people want' give it to them simple right ? but respect also flows the other way too if you see a dude around on the street and he's not affiliated with anyone that also dosn't give you a right to mess with him either who knows he may have been a sniper in iraq who has killed and wouldnt mind killing again if provoked can do alot of harm . but hey im not here to clue in numbskulls about the folley of there ways either if you run with the life then you gotta dance. bikers ,mafia , or otherwise so be a good biker or wiseguy the life you save ultimatley may be your own if you want to kill or mess people up by all means go to iraq or afganistan they need the help i know alot of boys and girls who came back not ever being the same ...... so if youre a tough guy or tough girl join up youll serve your country and be patriotic and possibly kill which is horrible by the way to do . you never really get over it. so to all be careful and remember to treat everyone with the utmost respect. you never know. for my friends the price can be more severe than you think.

Back in the 60s I grew up with the Pagans around Woodbridge Va. I knew a guy named Bowman, who rumor said that died at the hands of the Pagans, I cannot find any info on it and wondered if there is info floating around. I am writting my biography and this is one of those places I can't remember much of:-/=
