Annie Seel, the reigning women’s Dakar Champion, has taken time out of her busy schedule, preparing for the 2011 Dakar Rally, to contribute to our article setting goals for the New Year.

Every year we sit down and try to come up with things to change our life, set goals, start new and fresh. Annie Seel commented "The biggest challenge is to take the first step, without that one you can never reach the finish." One thing we can do to take the first step is to just sit, get some paper and a pen and decide what is important to you. This will get the process started and get you on the road to setting your goals.

Some things to keep in mind when creating your list can be to describe your goals, break down large goals into smaller groups of steps, and aim for things that are important to you. You may have some failures during the year when trying to achieve you goals, Annie has stated "It takes 100 failures to reach a victory" so if you fail or stumble just keep trying. Look at these videos of some failures and accomplishments that have taken place in the motorcycle world.

"Nobody remembers a coward" is a quote from Annie Seel that would best wrap up any comments on these videos; all these riders will be remembered. These motorcycle riders will always be remembered for the determination and bravery it took to attempt any of these jumps. Even though some of the riders failed they still moved on and achieved new goals.

Annie gave us a closing quote “The main thing is to reach the finish, no matter what." Annie Seel has proven many times that she will always be at the finish as she did in 2002 Dakar rally with a broken hand and engine problems.
