Less the 5% of the Japanese police force is women and the even smaller percentage of those women who ride motorcycles are part of a proud all female squad known as the “Queen Stars.” The ladies ride custom Honda VFR800’s and even perform choreographed drills at events like the Tokyo Motor Show.
With hope these graceful and skilled women will inspires more young ladies to follow their dreams into a unique career path in Japan. Formerly known as the Metropolitan Police Female Motorcycle Officers Squad their drills demonstrate an amazing amount of skill on their large, powerful motorcycles and they seem to be ready for any obstacle the public space may throw at them. Performing exercises like threading the needle, quick stops and quick turn’s the crowds in the videos available online seem intrigued and imaginably impressed with the ladies skills.
As all women riders know, there’s nothing more inspiring than a group of women riding together. A sight minority riders don’t get to see often, it reminds us were not alone and the joy of riding is ours for the taking. These Queen Star women seem to have stepped up to their role model opportunities and for the sake of potential Japanese women riders, let’s hope they keep up the good work.
