Why Do You Ride?

There are many “types” of female riders. Some are obsessed with the speed, some like the solitude, some like being in control of the power, others like being seen. Like any subculture of people, there will always be raised eyebrows and voiced opinions.  As long as you’re having fun and enjoying motorcycles, I say who cares, but it’s interesting to think about what motivates so many different types of women to hit the road on two wheels.

One type of lady flies under the radar. It’s about the bike, the road and finding her rush on the road. Clothes, colors and accessories don’t worry this lady, she’s fine with a simple protective jacket, a good helmet and an even better map. Maybe it’s an escape, perhaps an exercise of the mind, maybe a challenge to overcome fear, whatever it is when she hops on her bike there’s nothing more in her head besides her motorcycle and the road.

Another type of rider and perhaps polar opposite is the chic rider. When she hops on her bike, she aims to be seen for what she is: one hot motorcycle mama. Decked out in amazing leathers, perhaps a splash or more of hot pink, maybe a custom feminine paint job, there’s no missing this woman on the road. Queen of the bike night, local heroine and all around woman in the public eye, riding is about making a statement, confidence and amazing style on two wheels.

Whatever your passion is that gets you on your bike time after time, is legitimized by just that, so what’s your passion?

For me, it's different reasons at different times. Sometimes it's my total escape, my break from the computer, phone and everything else that keeps me plugged in to the reality and responsibility of day to day life. Sometimes it's to enjoy the friendship of fellow riders. Other times it's for the sheer thrill of the adrenaline rush, to get my heart racing and my blood pumping, where, when I finally stop, I think "wow, what a freakin' RUSH!"
