Rookie Marquez joins elite group with win at Red Bull Indianapolis GP

Rookie rider and series points leader Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) has spent the season re-writing the MotoGP record book. He added another chapter with Sunday’s victory at the Red Bull Indianapolis GP at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a.k.a. The Brickyard.

With the win, the 20-year-old native of Cervera, Spain became only the third rider in the 64-year history of Grand Prix motorcycle racing to win three races in one country in the same season. It was also his fourth victory overall, matching the mark set in 1978 by American Kenny Roberts for premier class wins by a rookie rider.
