Operation God Bless America, an annual motorcycle ride that has been going on for 19 years, took place yesterday and had a record turnout. More than 2,500 (!!!) bikers came out for the event, which raised $62,000 into a patient recreation fund at Martinsburg Hospital that buys everything from televisions to pool tables for the veterans.
84-year-old Elton Ensor, one of the seven founding members of the ride and veteran of three wars, led the caravan of bikers from Greencastle, West Virginia to Martinsburg. Ensor's favorite part of the ride? Raising morale for the veterans, of course.
