Riding in all kinds of weather is a part of having a motorcycle and few riding pants are better for this than the Telluride Textile Sport Pants from AGV Sport. You can wear these sport pants in colder weather, in warmer weather, and even in nasty rainy weather. You'll also benefit from the superior protection that AGV Sport's motorcycle gear is known for.
What's more, these sport pants are very good value for money. The standard retail price is only $149.00 and you will be able to use them all year around, keeping you warm in the winter with the lining and cool in the summer when you remove it. They will also last a long time so you won't have to replace them any time soon.
Testing the Telluride Textile Sport Pants
A recent road trip allowed us to thoroughly test the Telluride Textile Sport Pants from AGV Sport in nice variety of temperatures and weather. We rode our motorcycles from 95 degree heat to thunderous rain then back to 95 degrees again — just the sort of microclimate weather variations that makes the region around Mount Washington Mountain in New Hampshire a challenging place to ride.
The first thing I noticed about these AGV pants was the ventilation — within ten minutes of setting off from base camp I realized that I needed to remove the inner lining designed for winter and open up the four vents. The Telluride Textile Sport Pants have two vents at the top of your legs and two at the back of your thighs. This allows a good breeze to come through while riding and I could feel the ventilation working when the speed picked up. For the whole trip these vents kept me cool and comfortable, something I really appreciated.
After a while, the temperature dropped to 65 and the heavens opened up on us. For this part of my ride I closed the zippers on the vents and the sports pants instantly became completely waterproof. None of the rain came through the zippers while they were closed — even when the water pooled up on my lap it didn't penetrate the outer shell. The Telluride pants kept me dry through the entire downpour, something I can't say about every pair of riding pants I've tried.
Telluride Sport Pants Features
The Telluride Textile Sport Pants have some nice features that will make you happy wearing them. All the major seams are double stitched for safety and there is CE-approved armor in the knees. The back of the belt area has 8mm foam padding but there are no belt rings for a belt, a design choice that I found strange.
Because the pair I tried were a little big I did need a belt, so I used the Velcro waist tightening straps. Unfortunately they still weren't as tight as I preferred, thus my wish for the belt loops. The only drawback to having on a belt is that it might cover the 8" zipper that attaches the pants to the jacket, preventing you from being able to connect them.
Another thing I found wonderful about these Telluride Sport Pants is the bottom zipping mechanism which secures the pants over your boots. It's wide enough to allow for very easy fitting and tightens up just enough to keep the water out. There is a plastic membrane on the inside that keeps the water out and expands when you need to take them off.
If you are in the market for a new pair of trousers and are considering textile over leather, you should take a close look at these Telluride sport pants. You can find them at all the major retailers — just look for the AGV Sport brand. Competition Accessories, for example, is selling them for a good price.
