After an extended absence from the North American market, Schuberth will once again allow those of us residing on the continent the ability to purchase Schuberth Motorcycle Helmets at dealers and resellers everywhere. On 15 September, in Aliso Viejo, California, Mayor Phillip Tsunoda, Aliso Viejo Community Association Board President Ross Chun, and Schuberth General Manager Randy Northrup officially cut the ribbon on the new Schuberth North America (a division of Schuberth GmbH based in Magdeburg, Germany) location.
Schuberth is well-known around the world as a manufacturer of high-quality motorsports safety helmets. To understand just how good their helmets actually are, one need look no further than the Formula One series and the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix. During the second practice, Felipe Massa was pushing for a good lap on a very high speed portion of the track without the knowledge that a spring from Rubens Barrichello’s suspension was heading towards his head at an even higher speed. It struck him on the left side of his head and destroyed the helmet. However, the Schuberth RF 1.7 carbon-fiber driver’s helmet had saved his life without any doubt. Massa is a walking advertisement for the engineering and strength the German helmet maker imparts to their designs.
Schuberth North America also took a proactive step before the official opening of their new location. On 29 June the company signed up with the Motorcycle Industry Association and is now a full voting member due to their extensive worldwide experience in the industry.
Motorcycle helmets have improved significantly over the last decade or two, and there are many good models available in a variety of styles and designs. Schuberth now brings their legendary helmets to the North American scene and this gives consumers yet another fantastic choice of how to protect the all-important noggin.
