Want to look casual and still be protected? Not everyone wants to don leather while riding. The good thing is there are a number of apparel makers who are catering to this market with quality gear. We have already reviewed the Sliders Kevlar denim jeans (http://allaboutbikes.com/products/gear/2530-in-depth-review-sliders-kevlar-jeans-30) so now let’s take a look at top half protection from the company.
The Sliders® Kevlar Denim Jackets offer the same level of quality construction as the pants. The shell is heavy stone-washed denim. The protection comes in the form of DuPont® Kevlar® panels which are located to provide maximum protection on the arms, shoulders and back. The jacket also offers CE-approved armor at the elbows and shoulders with a multi-density back protector. Stretch panels on the elbows, underarms and backs of shoulders make this a very comfortable jacket.
For air-flow, the hand pockets are lined with Armor-Link 2 mesh, so they function as vents. There are also 4 chest, 2 sleeve and 2 rear vents. When the weather gets cold, there is a zip in liner.
Here is something interesting. A Competition Accessories customer noted something that Sliders does not advertise: “Excellent Jacket!!! Bought the blue about a year ago, and just noticed the back-pack...I didn't know that the two rear "zippered vents" actually open (a space) across your back & will fit a magazine, etc... Highly recommended!!!”
Retail on the jacket is under $150.
