Review: Held Slide Comp Gloves Hot

HeldSlideGlovesI have always thought “Held” is the perfect name for motorcycling gloves. No, it’s not a marketing ploy – Held is the surname of the founder of the premium glove company.

The Held Slide Comp Gloves are actually designed for supermoto racing. World Champion Bernd Hiemer had a hand (pun intended) in their development.

Like many of Held’s premium gloves, the Slide gloves are constructed of kangaroo leather, which is superior to other leathers in sweat resistance and colorfastness. There is a knuckle shell of a carbon composite and titanium. The glove’s back and thumb are fully protected by Kevlar. Are you getting the point that only the best materials have gone into the Slide gloves?

There is a visor wiper incorporated onto the index finger. The gloves adjust with Velcro at the wrist and cuff.

You may ask – I don’t race supermoto, so why would I want the Slide gloves? Supermoto is a form of racing that features a wide range of riding conditions. Isn’t it logical that a glove designed to work well in a plethora of situations would work well in the full spectrum of conditions on the street (and dirt)?

Like all Held gloves, the Slide carries a healthy price tag (over $200). However, once you slip on a pair of Helds, you will know why…believe me.
