Be Proud, Be PINK!

SmallStreetAngelIt has happened to me, it may have happened to you. Dude walks up to you on your bike, shakes your hand and casually says, “Sick riding, man” then does a double take when he realizes you’re a WO-man. Helmet, gear, gloves, hulks of metal with two wheels classically don’t scream feminine, but there are ways to ensure your gender won’t get obscured in the leather and metal. We all ride for the love of it, but if you want to make a statement or a tribute to the proud fact you are a woman here are some ideas to add some female flair to your two-wheeled get up.

Obviously attire is a great way to start separating yourself from the masculine moto crowd. More and more companies are tailoring gear specifically for women.  For a outfit that will not be missed check out Icon’s 2010 line, they offers a head to toe pink outfit that is nothing less than a screaming statement. Rolling around with their Hella Street Angel jacket, pants and gloves in pink is sure to drop jaws and prompt marriage proposals out of car windows.

pinkmotorcycleFor a more subtle approach Shift offers their Envy textile jacket in black and white with pink accents. Scorpion also makes their Jewel and Fiore jacket with very tasteful pink stitching and decals, as well as a series of gloves. If you’re going to pink accents Alpinestars offers some of their Stella goves in black or white with pink accents and/or decals. If you want to rock pink and make a difference at the same time, check out Harley-Davidson’s new Pink  Label Collection. A portion of each very cool piece of gear and casual apparel will go to support a fund called “YourShoes” which is administered by the Breast Cancer Network of Strength. If you want to top it all off, there are plenty of pink helmets that should do the trick. Icon, Scorpion, HJC and KBC are the brands popular in America that offer everything from plain pink to pink butterflies on their helmets. One of my favorites is Shoei’s new RF-1100 Sylvan TC-7 which is a unique and intricate pink, white and black pattern, a very classy and feminine look.  Additionally if you’re feeling wild you can attach a pink Mohawk or pink pigtails to your helmet.

pinkteddySo, enough about you, let’s talk about your bike. Pink aftermarket parts are abundant and a very cool way to personalize your ride. You can find everything from pink grips, to pink levers, chains, sprockets and pink wheel tape at your local shop to feminize your machine. If you want to go all out, try a pink graphic wrap or just head down to your local painter and have him do it right. If you want to go a bit more custom find a local powder coater where you can get custom pieces like your wheels, rear-sets or even your frame any shade of pink you want.

Whatever your style, head to toe and wheel to wheel or just a hint here and there; your options are just waiting for you to make your own female motorcycle style. Go online or head to your local shop to create the outfit, bike and persona of your dreams.
