POINTS OF INTEREST:
- Old Iron Bridge - Iron open grate bridge that crosses Cheat Lake. If unable to travel over open grate bridges, utilize I-68 at Pierpont road.
- Coopers Rock Overlook - Bands of rock cliffs line the Cheat River Gorge and provide numerous overlooks. The centerpiece among these is the main overlook, which furnishes a panorama of the gorge and distant horizons. A maze of enormous boulders and cliffs fascinates hikers, and the trails are especially lovely in June when the rhododendron and mountain laurel are in bloom.
- Little Sandy Public Fishing Area and Dam - Watch the water roll off the dam and stretch your legs.
- Little Sandy's Truck Stop - Stop for some gas and grub. Home made food that hitshome whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner. A great place to fuel up if needed, you or the bike.
- Cheat River - You will begin to notice the river at this point in Albright, WV. You will cross over a bridge. The Cheat River provides up to class IV rapids and is one of the few rivers that flows North.
- Cheat River Outfitters - Raft the rapids of the Cheat River, take a float trip, and find adventure with paintball or climb the rock wall...Cheat River Outfitters will create a day of fun for you.
- Monroe's Deli Style Eatery - Healthy and tasty food is on the menu as well as good music and an eclectic atmosphere. The Laurel Mountain Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of each month from October through April, bringing in acoustic musicians from all over the nation for your listening enjoyment.
- Cool Springs Park - Cool Springs Park is located along Rt. 50 in Preston County. The park sets about 1/2 mi west of the Rt 72 - Rt 50 intersection. Rt. 72 Runs from Parsons through Rowlesburg and into Kingwood. A drive along Rt. 72 provides great views of the Cheat River. Rt. 50 & 72 are popular routes for motorcycle riding.
- Cheat Mountain - The Start of Cheat Mountain offers great views for the passenger as the driver will be concentrating on the road! This mountain provides a total of 33 turns in a 3-mile run to the top. Be aware of Coal and logging trucks.
- Descention of Cadell Mountain - This leg of the trip begins at the top of the mountain. This isn't as hairy as Cheat but still a mountain with good sweeping curves. Be aware of coal and logging trucks they are required to stop at the top before descending.
- Cheat River Valley- The Valley begins at the bottom of Cadell Mountain. Cheat River is a white water rafting river and it is one of the few rivers that flow north. Another small mountain will begin to enter Kingwood, WV
- Smokin' Jacks - From wings to crab legs, stop in for a nice relaxed place to hang out. Great food and service and night life, as well.
- Arthurdale - Known as "The Reedsville Project" by the government employees who were sent here to establish the first New Deal community under the first of three Franklin Delano Roosevelt administrations. Today, the community is known as "Eleanor's Little Village" after the first lady's interest and dedication to the creation of the project. She often stayed and visited the community. Several of the original buildings are still standing and available for tours.
- Dorsey's Knob Park - Be sure to climb to the top of Sky Rock for a spectacular view of the Morgantown area. Bring your frisbee! The park has a new 18 hole disc golf course.
