Parkersburg Area RideWritten by Leanne Clute
Get ready for 170 miles of mind blowing terrain on the Parkersburg Area Ride. This motorcycle trail is mapped out to take you to the best sites and attractions that Northern West Virginia has to offer. You will start things off driving along the pristine Ohio River. Don’t stare at the scenery to long or you’ll miss the winding roads that bring you onto scenic Route 20.
Feel free to stop and hop on the Sistersville Ohio River Ferry so that you can check out the Blennerhassett Island State Park and Museum. On this unique island you will find a museum filled with historic relic of the Ohio River Valley as well as walk tours, local artisan shops and cookout areas.
As you continue on your way don’t forget to stop at Fort Boreman Civil War Park or the Parkersburg Oil and Gas Museum. Can’t get enough of wildlife? Then be sure to stop at the Ohio River Island National Wildlife Refugee. The most unique place to go in Northern West Virginia is the Marble King Gift Shop. It is truly unique to see all the things than can be made from marbles. Not just the balls that children play with, but everything from jewelry to ornaments and more. You can also stop at Mountwood Park to stretch your legs on the 50 miles of hiking trails available. The park offers camping if you would like to make your trip in two days and is located on a 50 acre lake.
