2010 West Virginia HOG Rally

Close off your summer with one last biker rally in West Virginia. From September 1st-4th the West Virginia H.O.G. Rally will take place in Charleston. The event will kick off with opening ceremonies on the Capital Lawn. There will be guided rides to a working coal mine where a hog roast luncheon will be served. The WV H.O.G. Rally is chock full of anything and everything that has to do with motorcycling. You will enjoy a multitude of vendors, great food and cold beer as well as bike events. The local Best Western will be bringing in a NASCAR Simulator as well as the Best Western Show Bike. A bike fest is not a bike fest without a poker run that includes cash prizes. The rally will also host a “Raw Hide Ride” and a West Virginia Motorcycle History Display.
Ladies can head out on the Ladies Ride and luncheon and everyone can head to the center of the excitement for three Ride Like A Pro motorcycle safety demonstrations. Nearby there are several hotels and camping available. Fishing, hiking and hunting along with a multitude of campsites is available at New River Camp Ground and Kahawha State Forest.
Hog Rally Ride:
1) Ride to Blenko in Milton & back to Charleston, via Route 60 then Route 62 to Bancroft, Poca, (Route 25) Nitro, Institute - Shopping at Blenko or Milton Flea Market
2) Ride to Pritchard Mining along US 60 to I64 East to Route 94 and back to Charleston via Route 3 and Route 119N
3) Ride to Williamstown via I-79 to Clendenin, then north on US 119 to Spencer. Follow Route 14 through Elizabeth and on to Mineral Wells – shopping at Coldwater Creek Outlet – Continue I77 to Williamstown and S&P Harley Davidson, newest Harley Davidson Dealership in WV. Refreshments available here. Shopping at Fenton Art Glass. Depart via I-77 to Mineral Wells and follow WV 21 back into Charleston.
4) Ride to New River Gorge Bridge – follow Route 60 to the Route 16 to Fayetteville, then Route 19 to the Bridge Shopping at Blue Smoke Salsa
5) Ride to Huntington for Poker Run via Route 60 to Route 34 south to Route 3 West. Follow Route 10 to 60 West and stop at Hillbilly Hotdogs. Back on Route 60 to Veterans Memorial Highway and Follow Rout 60 back to Charleston with several Poker Run stops.
6) Ride to Marlinton Poker Run – follow Route 60 East to Lewisburg and Route 219 North to Marlinton. Follow Scenic Highway 150 back into Richwood. Route 19 south to junction of Route 129 to Route 19 to Summersville Dam Overlook. Back on 129 to Route 39 West and on to Route 60 West to Charleston.
Additional ride suggestions:
1) Ride to Beckley on I-77 with a stop at Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine, then on down the Coal Heritage Trail via Route 16 to Route 52 east with a stop at Bramwell and then follow Route 460 back to I-77 north to Charleston
2) Ride to Logan via I-64 West to Hurricane, follow Route34 to Route 10 south to Route 119 past Chief Logan State Park. Follow Route 65 east to Matewan and then Route 52 West to Williamston. Pick up Route 152 north into Huntington and Route 2 to Point Pleasant to Route 62 east back to Charleston (Mothman, WV Farm Museum, Hillybilly Hotdog, Fort Randolph)
3) Ride to Clendenin on I-79, then follow Route 119 to Spencer to Route 33 East into Elkins. Route 250 North goes into Philippi to Route 57 to Route 20 to I-79 returning to Charleston. Appalachian Glass, Trans-Alleghany Lunatic Asylum, Philippi Covered Bridge
4) Follow I-79 to Route 19 South toward Summersville then Route 82 to Route 20 to Holly River, then into Helvetia. Return via Route 20 to Buchannan to I-79 south to Charleston. Camp Cowen, Webster Springs, Holly River State Park, Helvetia, West Virginia Wildlife Center.
5) Ohio River Ride follows Route 35 to Pt. Pleasant and then Route 2 to Ravenswood. In Ravenswood pick up Route 68 into Parkersburg and then Route 14 back to Route 2 in Williamstown. Stay on Route 2 to Moundsville. Depart via Route 250 into Fairmont and I-79 south to Charleston. Mothman, Tu-Endi-Wei State Park, Point Pleasant Floodwall, Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park, Fenton Art Glass, Holl’s Chocolate, Wells Inn, Sistersville Ferry, Marble King, Grave Creek Mound Historic Site, Former WV Penitentiary, Fairmont, Watters Smith Memorial State Park
