NHTSA: Erratic Movements While Going StraightRuss Brown Motorcycle Attorneys recently took an in-depth look at driving under the influence of drugs other than alcohol in California in their recent blog post, "Over The Counter And Prescription Drug Use Puts Los Angeles Motorcyclists At Risk".

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association's (NHTSA) 2007 National Roadside Survey, more than 16% of nighttime weekend drivers tested positive to driving under the influence of prescription, over-the-counter, or illegal drugs.

Motorcyclists all over the U.S. are constantly reminded to think before they operate a vehicle if under the influence of any drug. Some Excellent Cues (50% or greater probability) include drifting during a turn, weaving, and trouble with dismounting from the bike. A few Good Cues (30 to 50% probability) include erratic movements while going straight, evasion, and lack of proper signaling at night.
