In 1974, Barry Willey, National Cycle’s President, pioneered the introduction of Lexan® polycarbonate material in the motorcycle industry by introducing it into motorcycle windshield production.  Polycarbonate advanced the design and durability of windshields, and the first modern styled, optically clear, custom windshield was created. We called it the Heavy Duty™. The late 1990s brought forth another major advancement in windshield material with the introduction of Quantum™ hardcoat, an exclusive scratch resistant coating applied to many of the windshields and windscreens manufactured by National Cycle and sold throughout the world. Today we are proud to announce, with the launch of our Special Edition Gold Wing VStream, our new RainZip® hydrophobic coating that provides a clearer viewing area in rainy weather for the avid, all-weather rider.

National Cycle has developed more innovations and holds more patents for the design and production of windshields than any other company in the industry. We listen to our customers and work hard to maintain our leadership position, because National Cycle is not just a windshield company. It is a vital pioneer in the motorcycle aftermarket industry. Our state-of-the-art production facility has capabilities in many other motorcycle accessory categories including, but not limited to, Lighting, Deflectors, Highway Bars, Fender Tips, Hard Luggage, Racks, and Exhausts. Perhaps the oldest motorcycle accessory manufacturer in the world, National Cycle, Inc. opened its doors in 1937 on Chicago’s south side as The Nation’s Cycle Center. The company was founded by a young man, Gordon Willey (1903-1988), who is credited with many patents and innovative products such as the “U” clamp mount system still in use today around the world. Other products, such at the Little Fire Fly and Tail Gunner lights, live on. Gordon believed that success in business required “Total Customer Satisfaction”. This business philosophy was the beginning of a long and successful tradition in building innovative, high quality motorcycle accessories. It's a tradition we maintain today within a culture of passionate and enthusiastic motorcyclists.
