Michelin is ringing in the new year with a new set of Sport Touring tires. The Michelin Pilot 3 tires debut in January, and surpass the benchmark set by the Pilot 2's. The Pilot 3 tires have great grip in the wet, even wear, and a long life.
"As the Sport Touring Motorcycle tire market grows, Michelin responds with the new Pilot Road 3 tire," said Gary Midkiff, vice president of Michelin North America's two wheel division. "Tires in this segment have to be adaptable to many different types of motorcycles, as well as a variety of weather and riding conditions. With its XST X-Sipes, the Pilot Road 3 tire will be the benchmark of the Sport Touring Motorcycle Radial class."
With 2CT dual-compound technology, a soft rubber compound on the tread shoulders, and a wear-resistant compound down the middle, the Pilot 3's are able to achieve great tread life. Michelin says that the new Pilot 3 tires, which were designed for bikes like the BMW R 1200 RT, outdo the Pilot 2's in every way.
"Debuting in January 2011, the MICHELIN® Pilot®Road 3 tire surpasses all benchmarks established by its predecessor," Michelin said in a statement. "Offering extraordinary wet grip, even wear and long life thanks to new MICHELIN X Sipe and 2CT dual-compound technologies, the Pilot® Road 3 tire is the leader in the Sport Touring Radial Tire segment."
